An epidemic disease in rabbits unknown in the country is studied. Clinical cases shows very short incubation period and sudden death between 24 - 48 hrs. Rabbits from two regions (Montevideo, Canelones) sent to DILAVE for diagnosis, and animals from experimental inoculation was carried out. Based on clinical and pathological findings RHD was suspected. The disease was confirmed by laboratory studies at DILAVE and RHD/OIE Reference Laboratory, Brescia, Italy.
