Abstract

The comportment of the main energetic paramethers, as the modifications by fasting in 18 ewes: 12 pregnants and 6 nonpregnants, were analized. The variations in the glycaemia, ketonaemia, ketonuria and urinary pH value were evaluated in relation with the pregnancy toxaemia didagnosis and the glycerrol-propylene glycol treatment efficacy.

During the last third of pregnancy the fed ewell ahowed intermittent ketonaemia and ketonuria, wich verificated the inestability of their energetic homeostasis. In the fasted ewes, hypoglycaemia, ketonuria and urinary acidification were constated and their magnitude were directly related with the pregnancy.

The utility of glycerol-propylyne glycol on the energetic normalization was confirmed, and the possible cause of unsucessful therapy, found under field conditions, are discussed.

The determinatian of ketonuria and urinary pH used as a simple and quickly method in the pregnancy toxaemia diagnosis is proposed.
