Abstract

The lecturer stresses the importance of the disease prevention and control in the poultry raising.

A general review is made on the eradication and control procedures of the principal bacterial diseases as fowl typhoid, pullorum disease, fowl cholera and tuberculosis, of the virus diseases as the avian leukosis complex, fowl pox and laryngotrachceitis, of the protozoa diseases as coceidiosis and enterohepatitis, and of the mycosis such as aspergillosis and favus.

He reports also of the recognition for the first time in Uruguay of infectious sinusitis of turkeys.

It is also stressed the necessity of the control of external as well as internal parasites. The methods of control are indicated.

Finally some considerations are made on the correct feeding of poultry as well as on some nutritive deficiences as perosis, avitaminosis A, rickets, etc.
