Abstract

The presence 0f porcine parvovirus (PPV) infection was clinically suspected in the country, and investigations of the causal agent were carried on in abottoir samples.

Porcine parvovirus was isolated from tissues of mummified fetuses. Haemagglutination (HA) and haemagglutination inhibition (HI) techniques, as well as physicochemical properties: resistence to ether, chloroform and deoxycolate, filtrability and effect of heating, confirm the viral isolate.

The importance of considering the PPV as one of the principal agent of infertility in sows is emphasized.
