Abstract

An outbreak of foot problems is described at the level of a farm of dairy cattle of the Holando breed. It is identified by Direct Immunofluorescence (DFI) and bacteriologically isolates Bacteroides nodosus as the causal agent of lameness, for the first time in this nationwide exploitation system. The appearance of predisposing factors that weakened the epidermis at the level of the interdigital space is considered, allowing the colonization of the bacterial agent and triggering the pathological picture. The impact of these diseases on production systems is discussed, as well as the role played by cattle as a disseminator of the disease.
