A description is given in an acute intoxication with Cannabis sativa on a ten year old dog, crossbred, 18 kg of body weight. The substance origin is unknown. It enters into the body by ingestion, and produces a neurotoxic sindrome. A vegetable conglomeration appears in the stomach contents from spontaneous vomiting during examination. The sindrome corresponds to a psychomotor and cardiovascular depression alternating with periods of hiperexcitation, hyperstesia, tachicardia, and polypnea, in short periods with small intervals. The clinical signs appeared suddenly. The patient recovered spontaneously with no medication after 8 hours under clinic monitorization. In urine samples the presence of Delta 9 Tetrahidrocannabinol (delta 9 THC), was detected by using polarization immunofluresence test (TDx), Abbott. The analysis of the stomach contents by Fast Blue B Test and macroscopic inspection confirmed the ingestion of Cannabis sativa. This paper is a description of an inedit case of natural appearance in the Dog which because of its clinical sign makes it necesary to be included in the differential diagnosis is with of intoxications of the Central Nervous Sistem in companion animals.
