Abstract

The efficiency of genetic markers (GM), to be applied in veterinary practice (filiation verification, identification, breed specificity, diagnosis and prevention of neonatal isoerthrolysis) is evaluated by the "Polymorphic Information Content" (PIC). MG allows the study and evaluation of the maintenance of genetic biodiversity of breeds. MG in equine breeds present a different distribution of their gene frequencies, as well as the presence of alleles specific to certain breeds.
