Abstract

Chronic copper poisoning in sheep is described for the first time in Uruguay.

Two outbreaks of the disease appeared during an animal show in Montevideo.

The third affected a group of 13 rams in ano vine stud.

In the three occasions the animals were fed with concentrated food, containing more tan 20 p.p.m. of copper.

Copper concentratins higher tan 500 p.p.m. in liver tissue or 100 p.p.m. in kidneys were considered of diagnostic value.

Clinical and pathological manifestation of the disease are described.
