1276 sera from 24 pig farms were tested to detect neutralizing antibodies against pseudorabie virus by microtitration serum neutralization test (MTSNT). 92 sera were positive corresponding to the 33,33% of the pig farms studied. When analyzing the breeding systems of the 24 pig farms, 3 were intensive detecting 52 positive sera in 2 of them (65%) while in only 6 of the 21 pig farms with a semi-intensive breeding system the 27.7% were positive. These results provide confirmatory evidence about the prevalence of Aujeszky's disease in our region and also the importance in its diffusion of the breeding system.
