Abstract

Applications of the Glutathion S-transferases (GSTs) in human and veterinary medicine are reviewed. The GST liver detoxication system as well as the structure, nomenclature and classification of the enzymes are described. Metabolism and physiological variations of GST are also studied. Finally, biomedical uses, relevance in the diagnosis of liver damage and therapeutics uses of the GSTs are discussed.
