Abstract

We intended to present a conceptual overview of vaccines particularly for those colleagues that are not directly involved in this subject. This review deals briefly with some key developments in veterinary vaccinology and lists the types of vaccines that are used for vaccinations commonly performed in domestic animals. The recent developments in vaccination technology are also described. Future research should be aimed at developing vaccines that approach the ideal as closely as possible and directed against diseases not yet controlled and newly emerging diseases.
