Estudio de la Leptospirosis en criaderos de cerdos del departamento de Canelones, República Oriental del Uruguay

The prevalence of Leptospira infection in pig from breeding farms and feeder farms of the department of Canalones, Uruguay was studied from January 1977 to September 1978.
Samples from 5% of the total population (358 pigs será).
One hundred and ninety nine swine sera gave positive reaction (55.58%). The most frequent serotypes ware: bratislava (41.06%), pomona (15.92.%), tarassovi (11.76% ), butembo y autumnalis (10.61%) cada uno.
Leptospiras were isolated in four rats (11.76%) and four pigs (11.76%). Icterohaemorrhagiae serogroup was isolated in tow rats and one pig from the same farm. The rest of strains isolated were: two Pomona from the same farme and one Canicola from another one.
